Garrett’s Barbecue: Taste the Heart of Texas BBQ

This is a simple BBQ restaurant, nothing fancy, just down right good BBQ! Pork ribs were soft and tender, made with a rub that brings out the flavors. The meat fell off the bone. The brisket was so tender, I almost needed a spoon to eat it. It had a meat rub that enhanced the flavor. And the BBQ sauce did not disappoint, not to sweet, not to spicy, it was just right. The smoked beans and the coleslaw were both like eating out by the campfire and delicious. I will be back to try the chicken.

I recently visited a Garrett's BBQ, unfortunately, the food was, well, just average. The brisket and sausage, while decent, didn’t have the melt-in-your-mouth quality that sets great BBQ apart from average BBQ. Even the sides, potato salad, was underwhelming—nothing that would make you want to come back for seconds. As for the service, it was as lackluster as the food. The staff seemed indifferent, with little enthusiasm for the job. They weren’t exactly rude, but the service was snarky at the order counter, and there was no sense of urgency or attention to detail. On the brighter side, the restaurant was clean, which is always a plus. The dining are was well-maintained, which made for a comfortable environment. Parking was also plentiful, so at least getting in and out was a breeze. In the end, if you’re in the mood for BBQ, this place will do the job, but don’t expect anything extraordinary. There are better spots out there if you're looking for a BBQ experience that will truly satisfy your cravings.

I had a brisket and sausage sandwich with potato salad and pickles on the side. Even in other places , when asked if I want moist or lean , this brisket had more fat ,it was ok. I did not like the sausage at all , I thought the texture was too soft , I like V& V at the store. The potato salad had a nice texture it had a nice consistency ( a little chunky) but absolutely no flavor. It did not have anything else ( pickles , onion ) that I tasted. I don't think I will go back , there are a few other Bar B Q places I like better. Family seating here. Good prices , but...... would rather pay more and get really good.

I went in there after finding Garrett’s BBQ on accident. I was curious and I bought the 3 meat lean brisket with sausage plate. The brisket here is the best brisket I have ever had in my life! They most definitely have a forever customer.

Had the brisket and sausage sandwich combo, come with one side and drink, I got potato salad, and drinks are bottled. Brisket was tender and flavorful. Loved the potato salad.

Really wanted some BBQ while on this short trip to Corpus. Came across this place which had good reviews and was close to where the appointment was. Super laid back spot. Clean and cool. Nice service and I had the brisket & sausage sandwich combo with potato salad. Soooo good!!! Brisket was melt in your mouth tender and the sausage had a good flavor. I'm all about mustard potato salad and I wasn't disappointed. Check this place out!!!

Ordered a brisket sandwich plate. It was delicious. $11 something. Comes with a drink and a side. The brisket was moist and the sandwich came with a good amount of brisket slices. The potato salad was fresh with a taste of a little bit of sweet pickle relish. Very good. Friendly service and very spic and span. Will come back to try the other bbq options.
